Municipal Reinvestment Strategies
Sound Capital Management’s primary role and responsibility is to guide the municipal issuer in making sound decisions regarding the reinvestment of bond proceeds.
In today’s municipal market, an issuer of debt must consider many factors when making investment decisions. Sound Capital Management works closely with each issuer to gain a complete understanding of the issuer’s requirements and then guides the issuer in following a sound investment strategy based on their particular investment parameters. Throughout the decision-making process we focus on three main priorities: first and foremost, safety of principal; second, liquidity of funds; and third, yield on the investment.
Our services include the following: we undertake significant due diligence by reviewing of both legal and financial aspects of investing the bond proceeds, we outline which investments products are best-suited for each bond-related fund and present our findings to the issuer, we draft the bidding documents and then discuss every term to ensure that the issuer has a full understanding of the nuances of the investments, we provide advice on planning and accounting for any potential rebate liabilities, we coordinate the bidding process by soliciting and collecting bids from qualified investment providers and presenting the highest, most suitable bid for approval by the issuer. This is a competitive process where bidders are not allowed to review other bids and Sound Capital Management derives no benefit from the outcome of the bidding. After the investment has been awarded, we coordinate the closing phase for the investment by reviewing the documents prepared by the Investment Provider and ensuring timely review by the other parties involved.
